Nurse Lana often received bribes and usually found it quite easy to refuse them, but this time she couldn’t let go of what the patient’s husband had told her.
What he had asked her to do to his wife was undoubtedly against the code of ethics, but Lana’s ingrained need to help people had blurred her sense of right and wrong.
“And that’s why you shouldn’t cheat,” she said, dropping the husband’s pot of sperm in the bin and readying Henry’s sample – a Devonshire bull from a nearby farm – for insemination.
